Kamala Harris Makes History as First Black Woman Nominated for President by the Democratic Party

Following President Joe Biden’s decision to end his reelection campaign and endorse Harris, it became clear that she would be the primary contender for the nomination. With swift and widespread support from the party, she quickly secured the necessary endorsements from delegates.

While the formal voting for the nomination will conclude virtually, a ceremonial roll call will occur at the Democratic convention in Chicago beginning August 19.
