Rap sensation and voice of Yo! Majesty, Lashunda Flowers, better known as Shunda K is recently launched as a solo artist with the mixtape SK11 Flashback To The Present hosted by DJ TAYY. The spiritual songwriter and rap goddess Shunda K is ready to introduce a new look, a new voice and a new style. Coming back with an even bigger purpose she says“I’ve just been restructuring my career and my life after breaking away from the former members of Yo Majesty. I had to take some time away from the industry to truly find myself and what my purpose in this earth truly is. I have a pretty good grasp on that now.” As a business owner, spiritual woman and music artist, Miss Shunda K is definitely one to take notes from. She took the time to chat business, inspiration, and self-love – the root of it all! Read her exclusive interview below! Check out the full album HERE.

1.)    What inspired you to start a career in the music industry?

Well, I started writing when I was 15 years old. I wrote a duet for a male/female r&b vocal. I’ve always loved music and got into rapping when I first heard Snoop & Dre. I would insert my name in the parts of their songs they said their names and from there my ego was born.

2.)    What’s coming in the future for your music?

I get to be totally free because I’m honest with myself and I live an honest life. This gives me the ability to flow in the spirit of truth. My mantra is the Return of The Matriarch, that life comes through the womb and not a rib and I command that all females around the globe to be put back on their thrones. We are the gods. No one is coming to save us. We must and we will save ourselves. My music is a tool I will use to teach the whole truth. It’s what I was created for.

3.)    What’s the best part of working in the industry? What’s the worst?

I enjoy the people I reach, their compliments, their ahab (love in Hebrew). I’ve witnessed my fans in tears because of my boldness The worst part of the industry has been men feeling they can handle me any kind of way because I’m a female when it comes to money.

4.)    Where do you see the brand in 10 years?

In 10 years I will be in the jungles of Peru living a stress-free life, butt naked with the animals! Haha. Seriously though, in 10 years this earth will be set back in order. Females will be ruling the earth and the children will know the whole truth in order to live for hundreds of years again. Men better get with the program!

5.)    Do you have any tips for women in business?

Your vision is just that, yours. Never expect someone to patronize what was given to you more and better than you. A real boss keeps her hands in her pots, to ensure everything is being ran as if she was there. I have owned a lawn service for the past 9 years and every time I tried to transition from boss to owner, it bit me in the butt. Now I know, with everything I do, I have to be actively involved or it will never reach its full potential because its mine and what’s yours is meant for the keeping and continuous teaching no matter who you hire to work for you and with you.

6.)    On juggling your own businesses, how do you find balance in life?

My family comes first, so when I get stressed I lay in the bosom of my wife for comfort and hug my son tight because there’s nothing in the world like soaking up some baby energy. He’s only one, but let him tell it, he’s 21. Money is just a tool. Every time I find myself getting stressed over it, the echo of my wife’s voice reminds me that all will be well, that AhSha has us covered. She has brought us a mighty long ways and so I’m reminded and I humble myself to my attitude. I’m getting better at it.

7.)    How do you hope to empower women, is there an imprint you’d like to leave?

The truth is what makes us free. In a world full of lies, people prefer the lies over truth, especially women. We have been reduced to carnal minds and told we are to be the doormats for men, but, in my belief, if it wasn’t for our wombs not even they would exist.

8.) What are some of the most valuable life lessons you’ve learned?

My grandfather has always said that it doesn’t cost to be nice to people, well maybe your pride. The second is that honesty is the best policy. The universal laws of nature govern this earth and indeed we reap what we sow. I want the best for myself and am not afraid to put me first anymore. Self-preservation is the first law of nature and I will enjoy the rest of my days in it with confidence and peace.

9.) Do you believe success is rooted from self-love? How can other women break-up with doubt and insecurity to truly thrive?

Indeed. Self-preservation is the first law of nature. Nowhere is it written that we are to sacrifice ourselves for the next. These are restrictions we put on ourselves thru what I call deceptive intelligence. The number one weapon against to us all is mind control. Where is your head at, ladies? Every day you should wake up with a smile on your face because by now you should have removed everything that doesn’t mean you any good out of your lives. It doesn’t matter how long they or it has been a part of you. We bring these diseases on ourselves by trying to please people. What about you? What makes you happy? What makes you smile? Remove the strongholds. It’s time to be free. Stress-free. Only you can save you. NOBODY is coming back to. We are too old to continue believing fairy-tales. This is the Return of the Matriarch.
