What do you see when you look in the mirror?

If I were to have asked this question in my younger years, I would said, powerful and strong. I would have been lying because I knew what to say but I didn’t live it. I was scared and fearful of obstacles. I was afraid to be a true over comer. Ask this question now presently to my 36 year old self and you will get this: I see a beautifully imperfect, perfect person. Justified by grace and forgiveness. I let God take me out of my darkest places. I actually let him in to clean house. You see, I invited God in to some rooms, but not the dark attic. I said, come on in Lord and use me until you get into this room!!! You’r not allowed in there. God is a true gentlemen and he’ll wait until we are ready. He requires all of us but it’s a personal decision that we make to hand over our keys to our entire heart, that’s a process for some. It’s a daily conversation with God and continuing to trust him. He’s a loving God and he won’t force himself in the door, he patiently awaits for us to open it. God wants to be out Deliverer but we have to decide to let go and let God!

What do you do for a living?

A few things:) . Bethany Montecalvo is a licensed Medical Esthetician in multiple states, Union Makeup Artist to the stars, Health Coach, Model as well as a natural beauty & wellness expert. What makes my heart beat is bringing women freedom through beauty, health, wellness, and Jesus Christ.

How do you think self-love plays a role in success?

These are some great questions! If we as a human race don’t learn how to love and forgive ourselves then how can we say we truly love others. If we don’t love our self, we can’t love people, if we can’t love people then we can’t create meaningful relationships, if we can’t create meaningful relationships then how can we succeed? Relationships are what connects us.  I can smell a Fugazi “FAKE” person a mile away. We all desire something real in life. In a world where we can hide behind cell phones, computers, filters, apps, and social media to become who we want to be, that doesn’t fix who we are as a person. What matters is your heart, God looks at your heart intent. You might be able to fool some folks but you can’t fool God. I don’t work to please people, I want my God to be proud of me. I don’t serve God because I have to, I willing serve him because I love him. If I say I love God then I must mirror that in myself and towards ALL people.

How do you think we, as women, can work together to lift each other?

It starts with loving our self! It’s something that called work and it’s consistency. I had to realize that the world lies to us, telling us who to be. I remember as a teenager walking through the grocery store and looking at all the magazines. Comparing myself to these models. I was 14 years old, and these are airbrushed women. Is this how our children should learn self worth, Heck to the no!!!! We need to educate our children on what self worth and what it looks like. It starts at home with us. When I started working in tv/film and I saw all the beautiful people up close, can I just tell you that it takes a full team for models and actor’s to look like that. Nothing is as it seems. That’s why its called movie magic. I decided to stop picking up the magazine’s and started reading the Bible. I found and still find who I am called to be as a women through Jesus Christ. My validation does not come through people anymore. Work on your self and then mirror it to other women. I assure you, you will end up getting treated how you treat others.

Have you had any adversities that you’ve had to overcome in order to achieve success?

Every day my precious, I have obstacles. I’m constantly being molded daily on how to deal with situations in life. I’ll never arrive because I want to always keep learning. I always need God to purify me like gold. With Gold when they heat it up, the impurities raise to the top. They scrap off the impurities and then you have something beautiful. God can take our ashes and make something really stunning, if we let him. If your audience would like to read my novel of a bio, that describes one obstacle that I had to overcome. You can view that on my website under Bethany’s Bio at bethanymontecalvo.com

What has been your greatest accomplishment to date?

If you would ask my friends this, they would say you have a beautiful great life. You are around movie stars, live in Pittsburgh and you have a beautiful apartment in Florida. Your always in different places and meet amazing people. You own your own bussiness and you can do what you want when you want. This is all true but there’s a very heavy burden that comes with owning your own business. You are working 24/7 and if your not then your brain is. I do my own marketing, book my clients appointments, make my own skin care line, and network. This is all a choice, I decided 7 years ago that I would rather hustle for my own biz and have that privilege and make my dreams come true. Then work to make another people’s dreams come true. There is nothing wrong with working for someone, if we didn’t have those vital people then amazing business’s wouldn’t exist. I am called to walk my path just like you are called to walk your path. My greatest accomplishment is being able to trust God daily and walk a faith filled life. Transitioning my mind set, I don’t have to do this but I get to do this. It’s not a burden but a privilege. I then can live what I tell others to do! Being authentic is extremely important to me. That doesn’t mean that I am perfect. I am flawed and know that I am flawed. That’s where being real comes in, I know I am unable to walk this life without God as my source.

What inspires you to keep growing?

Having the privilege to speak freely to women on Unity. God gives us gifting’s and through our gifting’s we can change people’s life. He used a little girl from Pittsburgh that had a desire to learn about beauty and wellness, used that desire and made it a talent. Then, used that talent to connect with women. People keep me going and growing. I see people how they are called to be not who they are at that moment. If you want to see change, start by speaking it. Power and life is in the tongue. We are able to tear someone down or build life in someone by what we say. Choose to speak greatness from your mouth, it shall produce good fruit in their life!!!!!
