Self-Care Doesn’t Have to Be Solo: Wellness Activities You Can Enjoy with Your Besties

- Advertisement -spot_imgspot_img

Remember those pre-teen slumber parties with your besties? You built core memories while sharing personal details about your life, testing the latest hair and makeup trends, and trading spa-like treatments. Looking back now, do you recognize how fun self-care was – simply because it was a shared experience?

Fast forward to the present. When was the last time you remember bonding over fun activities like that? Sure, maybe you grab an occasional mani/pedi with your bestie. But sadly, communal self-care fades as we get older. Independence leads to more solitary activities, sacrificing bonding and personal development opportunities. So, it’s time to reconnect intentionally.

Socializing with a Purpose

If your only go-to social practice is dinner or drinks, you’re missing out. You can build a stronger support system by exploring shared interests together, especially ones that can enhance your mental health. Invite a friend to engage in wellness activities and experience heightened self-care benefits.

Benefits of Communal Self-Care

  • Share meaningful experiences.
  • Strengthen your friendships.
  • Learn new things from people you trust.
  • Experience companionship.
  • Laugh – and feel the stress melt away.
  • Gain emotional support.

These benefits go a long way in supporting your mental health and emotional well-being. Not only that, optimize personal development by including your support system in your wellness routine. You wouldn’t want to let a sis down by not showing up to the next workout class, right? So, when you incorporate friends into your self-care routine, it keeps you more accountable, too.

Bonding for Better Well-Being

It’s time to embrace a more communal self-care practice that marries friendship and wellness activities.  So, grab some of your favorite gals and try out these fun activities that are guaranteed to strengthen your support system and well-being.

Explore the Outdoors – Whether you’re an adventurous spirit who likes camping and extreme hikes or a low-key naturalist stoked by a stroll in the nature preserve or an outdoor picnic, there’s something for everyone in the great outdoors. The point is to get outside, breathe the fresh air, and connect with your sis.

Get Crafty – Let your creative juices flow sis and share your talents with your besties. Hit up the local art studio to paint a canvas or mold clay. Or, explore one another’s talents – whether that’s scrapbooking, jewelry making, or knitting. See what you can create when you work together.

Take a Class – Strengthen the bonds of friendship as you learn something new together. You can broaden your horizons with a new language, fast-track your career with a skill-sharpening course, or get physical and commit to a new workout routine. No matter what class you share with your gal pals, you’ll be expanding your horizons together.

Commit to Relaxing – Find something that you and your sis can do to wind down. Join a book club and escape in literature – from fiction to self-help, see which topic resonates with you. Feeling more competitive, try a game night where you experience a blast from the past and dig up classic board games. Or, go with the more tried and true relaxation experience and participate in a spa night!

Start Cooking – Take your dinner date up a notch by starting from scratch. Work together to prepare a meal, or push each other to new heights with a cooking challenge. Either way, this bonding experience is sure to be memorable.

Retreat Together – Sometimes the best way you can connect with your gal pals and focus on becoming the best version of yourself is by going on a girls’ trip.

Are you Ready to Get Away Together?

It’s time for a girls’ trip that brings together your best gal pals for a purpose-filled three-day journey.  Register now for a rejuvenating and empowering experience at the Self-ish Retreat, brought to you by the I’m Loving Me Project.
