The Art of Self-Discovery: Exploring Your Passions, Purpose, and Personal Growth

What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning? Within this answer lies the secret to your purpose.

So, let’s dig deeper.

Focus on Your Passions

As adults, it can be hard to define what gets us excited. Careers and families evolve, and we become more bogged down with obligations and responsibilities. But letting go of the things that bring us joy can be detrimental. The loss of passion can mean burnout at work and isolation in your personal life.

But girl, you are way too fabulous to let your light burn out. So, let’s manifest joy by getting back to the things that make you happy.

First, ask yourself, what do I have fun doing? If it’s been a while since you did something fun for you, it may be hard to answer this question. So, you can also look back on your youth. What hobbies or pastimes have you pursued that made you feel excited? When you think about these activities, it should give you a sense of motivation. That’s how you know you are on track to recognize your passions.

However, there’s a chance that what once brought you joy may not be the answer to today’s happiness. As people evolve, our passions may change. In that case, tap into your daydreams. When you let your mind wander, where does it take you? If money wasn’t a factor, how would you spend your time? Give yourself permission to quench your thirst for learning and explore these interests.

Passion is about what makes YOU happy. So, with that in mind, consider how your passion can translate into a consistent aspect of your life. You can turn your passion into a career or carve out time for a recurring volunteer activity or pastime.

Identify Your Purpose

To turn your passion into a purpose, consider how it will contribute to your defined community. Purpose elevates your passion to a way of living that makes a difference and gives back to others. In turn, you find fulfillment in your contributions.

For example, my passion is writing. So, slowly I turned this passion into my purpose. I often serve as the communication lead for volunteer organizations where I can write newsletters or run social media. Then, I took a leap of faith. I turned this talent into a career.

Now it’s your turn, sis! Consider your passion. How can you use it to contribute to the world around you?

Embrace Personal Growth

Passion and purpose are evolutionary. Each day, you should exercise personal growth to develop your skills further, expand your community of influence, and continue to seek joy. You are uniquely qualified to make a difference in a way no one else can. So, walk the path of self-discovery that will bridge your passions with your purpose. And if you need some cheerleaders along the way, turn to the I’m Loving Me sisterhood, where you’ll be inspired by women who, like you, are making a difference in the world.
