Find Your Hero Story and Fall In Love with Yourself

Her whole family murdered before her eyes, Kate Vrastak became an orphan in a world she didn’t know. Survival skills became her weapons against a world that seemed empty and alone until she hit adulthood, found forgiveness, and turned her pain into purpose.

Kate realized that in order to overcome her pain, she had to go on a journey within herself. She realized that there was more to life than dwelling on the circumstances that she had been given. Even though her family had been taken from her, she had been saved, and saved for a reason. There was purpose and meaning for her life, and she had to do more with it. “I knew that I was more than what I was living in that moment”, she says. Kate wanted to help others, but in order to help others, she had to help herself first.

Leaning into self-love was pivotal in Kate’s healing journey. As the old adage goes, you can’t pour from an empty cup. Fill your cup up first! If you are not at peace and in love with yourself, you cannot bring peace and love to others. You cannot be of service from an empty cup, you serve from the overflow. Kate realized that nobody else was going to pick her up, nobody else was going to put her on the right path but herself.

you can’t pour from an empty Cup. Fill your cup up first. You cannot be of service from an empty cup, you serve from the overflow.

Gloria recently spoke with Kate on an episode of Self-Love Conversations. These are our top pearls of wisdom from Kate Vrastak on life, healing, and loving yourself…

  1. Everything happens FOR you. Even though things may happen TO to you, they are gifts.
  2. Forgiveness is powerful. Forgiveness sets you free.
  3. You are more than your circumstances. You are mightily, and powerful, and courageous.
  4. There is a mightier mission for all of us that go through trauma. You have a purpose.
  5. Look for the light and positivity in the world. Focus your energy on that, not on the doom and gloom we see in the world on a daily basis.

Today, Kate is a mental health hero and trained professional guiding trauma survivors to find their voice and the strength to forgive. Kate holds certifications in Canadian Social Service Work, Grief Therapy, Suicide Prevention, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Applied Behavior Analysis, Shamanism, and as a Reiki Master. She works with children, youth, and adults experiencing various degrees of trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
