3 Tips for Staying Spiritually Grounded

Living in today’s fast-paced society with so much distraction, it can be easy to get carried away and a little lost. We wake up every morning, grind it out at work, maybe unwind by watching a trashy reality TV show, go to bed, and then do it all over again the next day. Busy schedules often leave minimal time for spirituality.

Amidst the chaos and even the negativity in the world around us, it’s easy to become overwhelmed, which can lead to burnout. Staying balanced and prioritizing your inner peace is something that should always be top-of-mind.

Why? Because caring for your spiritual well-being can help get you through tough times and challenges at work and in your personal life. In order to show up for yourself every day, you need to feel grounded and find that stability that will bring peace when sh*t is hits the fan. Staying spiritually grounded will bring resilience, ensuring you weather storms with ease.

Here are three tips that can help you stay and feel more grounded:

Set aside time to scroll social media

Be honest — you rarely feel good about yourself and your own life when you close the Instagram app after a scroll session. And if you aren’t comparing yourself to others on the ‘gram, you might be reading upsetting news stories on Facebook or X. Instead of whipping your phone out every half an hour to check in on things, limit yourself to a 15-minute session in the mornings and then again in the evenings. Scheduling social media time will ensure you aren’t creating an addictive pattern disturbing your well-being, or taking your attention away from the things that really matter.

It can be really helpful to do something grounding after one of your 15-minute social media scrolling sessions. For example, try to get out for a walk in the fresh air, dance to your favorite song, or have a tasty snack.

And we aren’t telling you to avoid the news completely as it’s important to stay up-to-date on current events. But you shouldn’t be bombarding yourself with stories that negatively impact your spiritual and emotional well-being.

Practice self-care

Engaging in a mundane, routine activity or something you consider self-care is an effective way to escape the swirl of thoughts in your head. Weeding the garden, folding laundry, reading a book, or taking your dog for a walk are all activities that will anchor you in the present.

Self-care is an important part of personal development and self-discovery, so be sure to schedule some time every day (or couple of days) to regroup through activity. Prioritizing a restful night’s sleep, setting goals, staying hydrated, eating healthy, and regularly exercising are also important to one’s overall well-being.

Slow down and meditate

We realize that meditating certainly isn’t for everyone — you might be one of those people who throw on a pop playlist while you do yoga — and that’s perfectly okay! Meditating looks different for everyone. There are a few popular meditation methods:

  • Guided meditation – there are tons of apps that can guide you through a meditation, like the Calm app.
  • Body scan meditation – this type doesn’t require a whole lot of time. Simply drop everything and take one minute to scan your body and become aware of wherever you’re feeling tension, anxiety, or pain. Once you’ve identified the areas, take a moment to breathe into it. Inhale deeply and then exhale all the tension away.
  • Positive affirmations meditation – This form of meditation has Buddhist roots, and requires some positive affirmations that resonate with you. Sit in a quiet area free of any distractions, close your eyes, adjust your posture, focus on yourself with compassion, and then repeat your affirmations. If you don’t have any that you usually repeat, try:
  1. I love and respect myself
  2. I will always be kind to myself
  3. I am beautiful inside and out, and accept my imperfections
  4. I am strong, brave, and trust all of my decisions

If you’re ready to invest in yourself and become the best version of yourself, sign up for our retreat today. Remember, taking care of yourself isn’t selfish; it’s necessary. You deserve to prioritize your own needs and happiness. So take some time to incorporate self-care into your routine and see how it can transform your life.
